Vacancy Description:

Etica is looking for a Decision Support Analyst to work for a Engineering Company based in Guildford. The purpose of the position is:
o To support the Business in providing user support & problem solving services with respect to the Business Intelligence solutions in use in the business
o Undertaking Decision Support design & development tasks to provide effective solutions
o Support and develop business wide framework for Decision Support, promoting high levels of user competence
o To contribute to change management activities through the development of training materials & delivery of courses
o To participate in business process improvement projects, as required
o To provide second line support for relevant application problems
Principal responsibilities are to:
o Provide support to end users for Decision Support applications following calls logged by Global Service Desk.
o Liaise effectively within the business, support team and other IS functions to define and implement the appropriate solution from the Decision Support application toolset and for effective hand-over of work to the business.
o Analyse, develop, test and implement fixes and enhancements to Decision Support systems based on business priorities, global standards and user satisfaction.
o Ensure that trends in user queries are analysed & actions taken to rectify
o Work closely and collaboratively with business process specialists on projects to define appropriate decision support solutions.
o Undertake acceptance testing for enhancements & bug fixes.
o Assist Business Process Consultants & Business Process Specialists in identifying business process improvements on ongoing basis.
o Validate training requirements against business process models to ensure all necessary skills are acquired within the business. Communicate this effectively.
o Develop & customise training materials, in line with training standards.
o Define training system requirements & ensure that relevant data is identified, established & maintained.
o Communicate to Expert Users/End Users and those indirectly affected by new processes.
o Deliver training courses to Expert Users/End Users.
o To run and participate in Expert User forums, where appropriate, by providing advanced functional/top up training.
o Understand the Business Intelligence application environment and contribute to its evolution to meet business reporting requirements

Required key skills (functional/technical)
o A good understanding of reporting concepts and strategies with an interest in data.
o Experience of SAP Business Warehouse. Effective use of the system as a report writer / trainer is desired. Good technical knowledge of cube design principles and extraction techniques desired but not essential.
o Experience of using SAP Business Objects is desired but not essential as cross training can be provided. Also, BO Universe change experience would be beneficial but not essential.
o Basic understanding of databases, SQL and Oracle knowledge an advantage.
o Familiarity with Incident Management tools
o Ability to elicit, analyse and communicate requirements
o Previous experience developing training materials and delivering training courses
o Effective communication skills/ presentation/ facilitation skills
o Good Written Communication Skills
o Excellent PC aptitude & broad systems knowledge, with ability to comprehend detail of system
Required qualifications/experience
o Understanding role Decision Support (Business Intelligence) plays in IS and business organisation
o Degree or appropriate work experience
o Customer Service background
o Technical certifications, a plus
o Business Knowledge / interest in data and reporting strategies.
o Proven ability to work independently, and as part of a team
